As global HR leaders and numerous studies will tell you, the cornerstone to building the strongest team is building the most diverse team – one that runs the spectrum of personal experiences and perspectives. Yet, contrary to popular belief, diversity isn’t solely about hiring a variety of ethnicities and cultures – it’s about age, too.


In 2018, we have five generations working in the same offices, each with their own views about what makes a great team member. Naturally, each generation has its strengths and weaknesses when it comes to the workplace and it’s very human for one generation to criticize another for what they perceive to be the other’s weakness. However, if we take a closer view, we can learn that each generation brings a very valuable perspective and set of skills to the table.

About Deb Tenenbaum

Deb Tenenbaum is the EVP, Chief People Officer at Yapstone, a leading payment technology company that processes over $20 billion a year in electronic transactions and continues to be recognized by Inc., Forbes, and Entrepreneur Magazines for its explosive growth.

Leading the global human resources, facilities and internal communications at a rapidly growing organization presents an array of specialized opportunities and challenges when it comes to establishing, maintaining, and evolving a first-class company culture.

Tenenbaum was primed to meet the expectations of the global organization through twenty years of business leadership experience, navigating corporate acquisitions and IPOs across an impressive roster of enterprise tech companies, including SGI, Netscape, and Loudcloud/Opsware.  Prior to joining YapStone, she was the Chief Learning Officer at Epicor Software where she focused on transformational business change through cultivating leadership development and employee engagement.

Tenenbaum received a Masters degree in HROD from the University of San Francisco and a BA degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She continues to her commitment to be a life-long learner, thought-leader, and nurturing supporter of revolutionary talent.
